The Importance of Being Hydrated

Drinking water is often not really thought about but holds such an importance to our health. Our bodies are made up of more than half of water. Each cell, tissue and organ in our body needs water to function correctly. There are many positive health benefits when drinking the recommend amount of water.

One question that people seem to be confused about is how much water should I drink each day? The question varies and depends on different factors such as your health, how active you are and where you live. Different factors that may influence the intake of water needs are intense exercise, environment, illness or health conditions and pregnancy.

A simple and easy way to remember the average amount of recommendation of water intake is by the rule: “drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day” (because all fluids count towards your daily total).

Tips on drinking more water:

  • Make it a habit - when you wake up in the morning pour yourself a glass of water and forcing yourself to finish the whole glass before starting your day.
  • Make it convenient - keep water bottle with you on your day and make sure it is visible.
  • Personal tip - For me it is easy for me to keep track of how much water I am supplying my body with. One of the products that I recently bought was a refillable water bottle with measurements on the side. With the refillable water bottle I can easily keep track of how much water I am intaking. A tradition water bottles doesn't have measurements on the side so I get confused on how much water I am drinking. The water bottle is reusable and eco friendly to the environment.

A lot of people are always searching for new ways to improve their health and often time the answer is simple. Drink more water!

Tips to living a happy healthy life!

As the days go by and our stress levels rise, our positivity level goes down. This is human nature. However, this isn't healthy whatsoever. Here are a couple of quick easy tips that can help boost up your positivity and can start you on the path to living a healthy positive life.

Tip # 1

Be proud of who you are!

I know this may sound cheesy and obvious, but it is important to love yourself for who you are. If you aren't proud of the person you are, then find little things that make you happy about your life. As cool as it may sound to be able to switch lives with another person, it is impossible. So, embrace yourself and your life and change it for the better!

Tip # 2

Set goals in life!

Having goals in life is necessary and healthy. It brings meaning in your life to set goals that you would like to accomplish throughout your lifetime whether it be in a couple of days or a couple of years. As a college student, setting goals can literally help you get through the stress of all the tests and papers.

Tip # 3

Surround yourself by people who you love and who love you in return!

Whether it be a couple of friends or your whole graduating class, it is important and healthy to create bonds with people. Make sure these people bring positivity into your life, because after all we are trying to live a healthier more positive life! As human beings we need to feel loved, and if we are alone all the time, then it can cause pain and negativity in our lives. Even having one friend is good than having none.

Tip # 4

Smile and laugh!

Smiling can not only help you, but it can help others, by changing their moods from negative to positive. A smile is powerful! With smiling comes laughing! Laughing can help you live longer too! Find things that make you smile and people that make you laugh.

Tip # 5

Embrace your mistakes!

Nobody is perfect. Everybody makes mistakes. People hear these things in life almost everyday, but it is true. It is important to accept that we are born to make mistakes and learn from them. Do not dwell on regrets or past mistakes. Instead, move forward in life and try to avoid the situations that came with those mistakes.
